Georgia Buddhist Vihara was opened officially in June 06, 2000. The property was donated in March 2000 by Mrs. Shani Wijay in memory of her parents. Mr & Mrs. Shelton P. Jayasinghe.
The house on the land was in need of repair work. Devotees from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee got together and offered their commitment in terms of support and time during three months in order to complete the necessary work. All friends and devotees regardless of race or religion continue to provide their time and donations to support the ongoing activities of the Vihara.
Our friends and devotees in Georgia and neighboring states who for so long were wishing for a center like the Georgia Buddhist Vihara have now the opportunity to satisfy their religious needs. We like to welcome you all to join us in our activities.
I like to express my thanks to all the devotees and friends who donated the property and resources and who worked hard to make the Vihara what it is today. The year 2006 we planned to move to a larger facilitated location, our friends got together and supported the project, because of their effort and kindness we were able to buy 5 acre of land with house, including 30X40 workshop building for for more information more information about donors
The Vihara depends on contributions voluntarily made by devotees and friends. If you want to know more how you can also help please click here.
