Daily chanting, puja and meditation
Everyday, if the monks are available, at 7:00 a.m. there is morning chanting, Buddha puja and meditation. At 8:00 p.m., during the DST months (March to October) there is evening chanting, gilanpasa puja and meditation. In the other months (November to February) the evening chanting, gilanpasa puja and meditation is at 7:00 p.m. All devotees and friends who wish to join us are welcome.Weekly Vipassana Meditation
Every Friday there is guided sitting and walking meditation for beginners, intermediate and advanced meditators. There are two sessions, one from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m and the second from 7:15 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Please refer to the events page for a complete listing of the meditation dates. Dhamma school
Read about current Sunday School's Calender view who will provide snacks on Sunday Schooldays Every other Sunday, except when there are other scheduled activities, there are dhamma classes and Sinhalese language classes for children of all ages. Teachings are provided in English and Sinhalese. Books and reading material are provided and the teachings are focused on the Jataka tales, the life of the Buddha and the Dhamma teachings. The children's environment is not surrounded by the Dhamma and without teaching them they will not have much chance to learn the Dhamma. Bringing them to the Dhamma class is part of the parents responsibility to keep their children awaken to the Dhamma. Read about current Poya ProgramOn full moon day lay practitioners have the opportunity to observe the eight precepts and to participate in the poya observance and acquire merits by performing Dana, Sila and Bhavana. And also to participate in the Sutta Discussion which provides an opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of the Buddhist teachings. Other lay practitioners who are not taking the eight precepts are also invited to come to the Vihara and participate in the services.
