Bhante Gunaratana has been a monk for over 50 years and is the most senior Sri Lankan monk in the United States.  Knowledgeable in both Western and Buddhist psychology, he is the founder of Bhavana Society, a retreat and monastic center in rural West Virginia.  He is the author of a number of books, including Mindfulness in Plain English and Eight Mindful Steps To Happiness.  He actively conducts Vipassana retreats world wide.
